When to Hire a Designer?

When to Hire a Designer?

Thinking about starting a remodel or new construction project and need to know when to hire your design team??

Short answer: now!

Long answer: the earlier the better. Honestly. Whether it is us or someone else, the earlier you can get your design team involved in your project, the better. Part of the process is to review and audit your construction set to be sure that your desires truly have been implemented throughout your architectural planning. If you do this post-framing, our suggestions may significantly more costly to incorporate. The last thing we want to do is advise you on something that is going to result in a change order. So, if you are pre-construction, it is critical from a savings perspective to get your team going.

If you have already started construction and are just reaching out to your design team, that is still perfectly okay. Just know, there are cases where we have had to stop projects to let us catch up OR acknowledge that the options we have by starting early, become vastly more limited the more downstream you are! Materials take an incredibly long time to procure so if you want to really have some specialty items in your house, again, early involvement allows this.

As a rule of thumb for new construction, we typically have a year of design and planning before install, with ideally 6 months of that being pre-construction.
