One Room Challenge: Week 8 IT IS FINISHED!

Okay so it took way more time than I anticipated BUT it is done friends. I am so glad I did it and it is literally due tonight at midnight…. Can we say down to the wire? I literally shot this room earlier today and did a lil walk through on IG to show it off! Because the space is small, it was hard to shoot everything so head on over to the gram to see the highlight in my stories!

So first off, I will say that our room was mostly done to start with. As in, we had flooring, trim, freshly painted walls…. all the things that take a lot of time on the front end. Thankfully that let me take the time I needed to go slow with the wall paper and to take my time with sourcing. Some things I learned along the way:

1) Staging is way harder than I thought.

It just took a long time to move around and mix things till I was happy with the outcome. Playing with where the pillows go and how to throw a blanket just right are not my jam and perhaps that is why I felt a drag at the end.

2) You need way more to “dress” a room than you think.

If you look at the gallery wall, literally the only planned piece of artwork for the room was the large blueprint poster my Dad gave me for Christmas. Once we started pulling the room together it felt so bare. I just had to put more on the walls and get more creative with how to fill the space. This leads me to the greatest lesson learned of all…

3) I am not a minimalist.

I wish I was. I really love seeing the beauty in simplicity. But alas, I love to add layers and layers of things on the wall and around me. Now if we are layering neutrals and putting up tones of the same tones, I think it would be all well and good. In this case, we layered prints, stripes, color, texture, and way more than I typically do in one space but I really do love the way it all came together.

All in all I am so grateful for the push to get this room done. I am so looking forward to getting in the house and setting up each and every space. It may be awhile until all the rooms are complete at this level BUT it felt so good to have one room completely done and be able to give it to Granger before his lil bro makes his debut in a few short weeks.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone else’s projects and who knows, maybe I’ll jump on the fall one as the catalyst to get the baby’s room done! If you want to shop any of the items in G’s room, see the links below. Something not working right? Drop a comment below and I’ll help yah out!
